Possibly, Even More Unbelievable Bulgarians - 1987

Bob Takano was nice enough to grace the planet with the full upload of his 1987 training tape featuring the Bulgarians somewhere in Asia (likely Korea.)  I know the Ironmind videos get all the love, but this was one hell of a wrecking crew and in really great shape prior to the 1988 Olympic debacle.

  2. I knew Antonio Krastev when he trained at Lost Battalion Hall here in Queens, NY. He was my buddy Joe Gazio's roommate for 18 months. He said that he told Ivan Abadjiev "I can't do your training. A big man can't recover from this.". He said the Bulgarians were better lifters in the lighter weight classes, but "The Russians were animals.". He said the Russians were stronger athletes because of their varied training.

    1. Hello Howard! Thanks for sharing that . . . I'll never be able to wrap my head around how fast some of the lighter weight guys can be. Whoa! And the heavies . . . true athleticism in all weight classes and it's a joy to see what a human being can do. Kinda turns my view of the world around some days.
